This week the grade schools are celebrating Dr. Seuss, and I am a fan! I have read and have many MANY of his books. The life lessons within the pages are incredible if one stops and thinks about it. In looking through quotes today I found this one... and it struck me!
"Behave as if this is the day I will be remembered" ... THAT is powerful. Think about it. If today you were called home, today is the day you part from this earth, what will you be remembered for? See, powerful right.
Now ask yourself this, because we do not know when we'll go home ~ we may have many MANY days or we may have but a few. What we do have is this; another day to leave the world with a piece of us. Another day to leave the world with a piece of Jesus!
As I think about this and I really have given it much thought, I think what would I leave people with to remember me? And my hope is this. I would hope that people would say first and foremost, she loved Jesus! She loved people. Everyone thought they were her best friend. She loved her husband and children above all things & appreciated spending time with them. She smiled often and had kind words to say. She saw the glass flowing over - not half full. She appreciated the simple things in life and stopped to take them in. Her faith and her family were her treasures. She wanted people to know Jesus. She worked hard, she loved deeply and she prayed for people she didn't even know. She was there when family and friends needed her. She did not judge. She embraced her shortcomings and she prayed every day for God to fill her. She was funny (Oh yes someone please admit I'm funny!). She made a mean pretzel salad, loved her chickens & her dog, laughed at her goats and looked every morning for a pheasant on her way into town because when she was blessed with the pheasant it was God telling her "THIS is going to be a good day!" She ran a lot and loved dating Jesus there on her country roads. She couldn't sing but she worshiped God with all her heart. She loved people, she loved Jesus and she loved life......
This morning as the birds are singing and the bulbs are poking up out of the ground I am moved by this... SPRING is a FRESH START! A wonderful time of year to clean a slate and begin again. Today, today I shall behave as if this will be the day I will be remembered....it is up to me to leave behind what I hope will touch others, will move them will lead them to Him! Today is the first day of the day in which we may change the course and direction of the impression we leave with others. What would you like to be remembered for? TODAY IS YOUR DAY, IT IS TRUER THAN TRUE, NO ONE ELSE CAN DO IT, NO ONE BUT YOU! Blessings over you today
Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one had yet been laid.
