Yes he does, He is and He will but not without you.
Sometimes in the midst of a storm I tuck my head and cry out to Jesus. I want Him to repair, to heal, to take hurts. I want to feel better, to have others feel better, for everything to be good! I trust Him completely in my storms.
I am having to put my storms into a better perspective so that I fully and deeply experience God in them. It is one thing to cry out ~ it is another to listen when He whispers I am here, row. I am here, lift the sails. I am here turn the bow. God is abundantly capable of great and mighty things, this we know!
However, I do not believe that He brings us into the storms so that He may show us this mighty capable power. I believe He brings us to storms so that we may see OUR mighty and capable God working WITH US. As though He is whispering to us like Mr. MyMagi in the Karate kid... "There is a lesson here". Poor example, but you understand right?
Our job isn't simply to believe and listen. Our job is walk WITH Jesus. Not to run ahead. Not to lag behind. To walk WITH HIM.
I think about it like this, if you are with your best friend and you are confiding in them looking for guidance and solution, you do not just ask and walk away. You walk and talk and listen and ask questions. And when they share there is something you could try or do to improve your situation, knowing where you are and trusting them, you try it.
Much is the same with my relationship with Jesus. When I am in the midst of a storm, I ask Him to be present, to reveal Himself to me ~ Oh I so fall short and shout sometimes "where are you!". It isn't because He isn't trying to show Himself to me. It is because I'm so blinded by me, I don't see Him. I get in the way of us!
Today as we consider our storms, let us consider how we are in relationship with Jesus. Are we asking Him where He is, or are we asking Him to be in relationship with us, to reveal himself so that we may see the lesson in the storm. Lean into Him this morning, don't shout WHERE ARE YOU? Whisper quietly to Him... please reveal yourself in this to me.
I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me. Proverbs 8:17 ESV
